US shares mixed at close of trade; Dow Jones up 0.09%

Investing.com - US equities were mixed Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecommunications and Healthcare sectors were mixed. The market demonstrates against the background of negative dynamics from the outside in the sectors of consumer goods, raw materials and industry.

At the close in New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones gained 0.09%; the S&P 500 Up 0.06%, NASDAQ Composite Down 0.13%.

Boeing Co (NYSE: BA) was the leader of growth among the components of the Dow Jones index at the end of today's trading, which rose 4.81% or 10.24 points to close at 223.25. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ: WBA) rose 3.38% or 1.30 points to end at 39.76. Chevron Corp (NYSE: CVX) up 2.89% or 2.53 points to 89.98 at close.

The biggest losers were Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE: CRM), which fell 8.83% or 21.30 points to end the session at 220.05. McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) gained 2.86% or 6.19 points to close at 209.95, while Home Depot Inc (NYSE: HD) was down 4.15 points (1, 51%) and ended trading at 270.95.

Among the growth leaders among the components of the S index&The P 500 for today's trading were NetApp Inc (NASDAQ: NTAP), which rose 10.78% to 60.00, HollyFrontier Corporation (NYSE: HFC), which gained 8.81% to close at 26.31 and Apache Corporation (NASDAQ: APA), which rose 6.31% to end the session at 13.15.

The biggest losers were Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE: CRM), which fell 8.83% to close at 220.05. Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR) shed 4.95% to end the session at 184.21. Genuine Parts Co (NYSE: GPC) was down 4.37% to 97.23.

Merrimack Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: MACK), which gained 64.95% to 6.73, and NanoVibronix Inc (NASDAQ: NAOV), gained 56.58%, were among the growth leaders among the components of the NASDAQ Composite index at the end of today's trading. to close at 1.110; and Catabasis Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: CATB), which up 30.06% to end at 2.12.

The biggest losers were Ovid Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: OVID), which declined 55.71% to close at 2.94. Shares of Auris Medical Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: EARS) shed 31.93% to end the session at 3.560. Medavail Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: MDVL) was down 27.27% to 13.120.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that went up (1,741) exceeded the number of securities that closed in the red (1162), while the quotations of 81 shares remained practically unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 1,491 companies gained in price, 1,309 decreased, and 74 remained at the level of the previous close.

Merrimack Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: MACK) rose to a 52-week high, gaining 64.95%, 2.65 points to end at 6.73.

Volatility index CBOE Volatility Index, which is formed based on the indicators of trading options on S&P 500 up 0.72% to 20.92.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.73% or 13.30 to $ 1,832.20 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude oil futures for January delivery rose 1.46%, or 0.65, to $ 45.20 a barrel. Brent oil futures for February delivery rose 1.60% or 0.76 to trade at $ 48.18 a barrel.

Meanwhile, on the Forex market, the EUR / USD pair rose 0.22% to 1.2096, while USD / JPY rose 0.22% to hit 104.53.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 91.123.
