US stocks mixed at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 1.06%

Investing.com - US equities were mixed Monday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors were mixed. The market demonstrates against the background of negative dynamics from the outside in the sectors of oil and gas, utilities and finance.

At the close in New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones Index lost 1.06%, the S&P 500 Down 0.49%, NASDAQ Composite Up 0.03%.

The leaders of growth among the components of the Dow Jones index at the end of today's trading were shares of Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL), which gained 4.19 points or 3.59%, to close at 120.78. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) rose 1.42% or 0.68 points to end at 48.12. Walmart Inc (NYSE: WMT) rose 0.44% or 0.66 points to end at 152.26.

The biggest losers were Chevron Corp (NYSE: CVX), which fell 4.13% or 3.77 points to end the session at 87.54. Dow Inc (NYSE: DOW) was up 3.74% or 2.07 points to end at 53.33, while The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE: TRV) was down 3.73 points (2 , 77%) and ended trading at 130.71.

Among the growth leaders among the components of the S index&The P 500 for today's trading was IHS Markit Ltd (NYSE: INFO), which rose 7.15% to 99.20, Coty Inc (NYSE: COTY), which gained 6.53% to close at 7. 34 and Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ: AMD) up 6.04% to end 92.46.

The biggest losers were EOG Resources Inc (NYSE: EOG), which fell 6.59% to close at 48.04. Pioneer Natural Resources Co (NYSE: PXD) shed 6.57% to end the session at 102.84. ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) is down 5.88% to 40.27.

The top gainers among the NASDAQ Composite Index components by the end of today's trading were China Automotive Systems Inc (NASDAQ: CAAS), which gained 126.89% to 8.69, Sundial Growers Inc (NASDAQ: SNDL), which gained 100. 13% to end at 0.74 and Jaguar Health Inc (NASDAQ: JAGX) up 62.76% to end 0.3418.

The biggest losers were Nikola Corp (NASDAQ: NKLA), which fell 26.85% to close at 20.43. Appian Corp (NASDAQ: APPN) shed 25.72% to end the session at 144.00. Kandi Technologies Group Inc (NASDAQ: KNDI) was down 25.84% to 10.10.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that fell (2,183) exceeded the number of those that closed in positive territory (761), while the quotes of 58 shares remained practically unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 1808 companies fell in price, 1037 rose, and 59 remained at the level of the previous close.

IHS Markit Ltd (NYSE: INFO) rose to an all-time high, gaining 7.15%, 6.62 points, to close at 99.20. Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ: AMD) shares rose to all-time highs, up 6.04%, 5.27 points to 92.46. China Automotive Systems Inc (NASDAQ: CAAS) rose to its highs of up 126.89%, 4.86 points to close at 8.69.

Volatility index CBOE Volatility Index, which is formed based on the indicators of trading options on S&P 500 up 0.48% to 20.94.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.32% or 5.75 to $ 1,782.35 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude oil futures for January delivery rose 0.04%, or 0.02, to $ 45.55 a barrel. Brent oil futures for February delivery fell 0.31% or 0.15 to trade at $ 48.10 a barrel.

Meanwhile, on the Forex market, the EUR / USD pair dropped 0.23% to 1.1934, while the USD / JPY quotes increased 0.27%, reaching 104.36.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 91.940.
