MOSCOW (Reuters) - Cherkizovo Group (MCX: GCHE), one of the largest Russian producers of pork and poultry meat, according to preliminary data, will increase exports in 2020 by 70% compared to the previous year - to about 85 million tons, the company said.

"Despite the pandemic, the Cherkizovo group in 2020 managed to achieve significant results in further growth of foreign sales. Export remains one of the priority areas of the company's development, therefore, in 2021 we will continue to strive to increase its volumes both by increasing supplies to those countries where we already work, and by expanding the geography of our products", - quotes the statement of the words of Andrey Terekhin, head of the department for interaction with industry unions and state institutions of TD Cherkizovo.

The main export driver, like last year, was chicken products: their shipments could increase by 85%, reaching a total volume of about 63,000 tons. Thus, chicken accounts for about 74% of the company's total exports. China remains the main export destination for this type of product. This year the company also entered the Gulf market - the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Cherkizovo pork export volumes by the end of 2020 may increase by 32% to 14,500 tons. This is due to both the growth of supplies to the CIS countries and the opening of new markets in Southeast Asia.

Turkey export sales, according to the company's forecasts, in 2020 will grow by more than 50% to 2,400 tons, which is also largely due to the start of supplies to the Chinese market..

Exports of meat processing products (sausages, semi-finished products) for the first time in recent years may show significant growth, exceeding 5,000 tons, which is about 25% more than last year.

Sales of chicken meat from Cherkizovo in the third quarter of 2020 amounted to 175.880 tons, turkey - 10.190 tons, pork - 68.400 tons.
